MISS & MR PTQ's
WHERE ARE THEY NOW............?
Although PTQ dates back to 1927, the first PTQ 'cover girl' appeared in 1949.
She was Miss Ina Hoy who was chosen from eight entrants. If you look at the front cover from that year you will see that Miss Ina Hoy was indeed a real winner - a stunning beauty who deserved to be the first Northern Ireland PTQ 'cover girl'.
It did not give her age in the magazine but she must have been maybe 18 to 20 which now 50 years later makes her a 'young' 60 -70'ish (Sorry for giving away your age Ina!) We hope Miss Ina Hoy is still alive and well and living in Northern Ireland. We would love to hear from her or anyone who knows her. We would like to present her or members of her family with a framed print of that famous 1949 front cover.
We would also love to include a current photograph on our PTQ Archive Internet site along with any details about her life since then, with her approval of course.
If Miss Hoy is no longer with us, we would simply ask her family to accept that we did not wish to knowingly offend and accept our apologies if this is the case.
The first Miss PTQ appeared in 1956.
She was Merle McCarley, aged 19 from Belfast.
There have been over 40 Miss PTQ's since then.
The first Mr. PTQ appeared in 1987.
He was Mickey Megarity.
There have been 12 Mr. PTQ's since then.
DO YOU KNOW WHERE ANY OF THESE MISS OR MR PTQ'S ARE NOW ?
Many would probably prefer not to be reminded of this part of their past. Maybe you recognise your mum or dad from one of the front covers - bet you didn't know your mum was such a 'wild child' of the sixties or your dad was such a seventies 'cool-dude'.
